What do we need funds for?

In the first instance the project's needs are for funds to have people on the ground in Thailand. This will increase as we gain more people to work with the children. Monthly giving helps to meet our regular commitments. There will also be one off needs for items like equipment and furniture. We hope to be able to afford to have a fund put aside for medical needs for the children and trips or treats for special occasions. If you would like to know about any of these as and when they are needed and about other great stuff happening please contact us and ask to be added to the newsletter email distribution list.

What is Grassroots trust and why is 1Step2Step connected to them?

In the beginning of 1Step2Step we realised that setting up as a independent charity would take time and money therefore restrict the starting of the main work of the project. Without a charity number we would not be able to receive gift aid, a valuable extra source of income. After sharing the vision with a wider group of people and one person introduced us to Hugo and Sharon Anson. These two are the founders of the Grassroots Trust.

Grassroots was setup so that Hugo and Sharon could receive donations to help the projects they were running. Since then more fledgling projects have been added to those such as one in Romania and another in Tenerife.

In talking to Hugo and Sharon it was believed that we could work in partnership and move on quicker by becoming ‘A project of Grassroots Trust.’

Why do cheques need to be payable to Grassroots not 1Step2Step?

Grassroots Trust holds the money donated for 1Step2Step in a central fund, which has money for 1Step2Step earmarked so that it’s for our use only.

What are the benefits of being connected to Grassroots?

In working under the charitable status of Grassroots Trust, we are able to receive support and advice as we set-up our own project. This also mean that we receive gift aid; for every £1 donated by a taxpayer, we get 28p back from the government. This is why it’s worth filling in the extra form.

How to donate

You can donate online via the Grassroots website. If you're a UK tax-payer, your donation can be gift-aided, just set the 'I am eligible for Gift Aid' drop down to Yes: it's set to this by default.

You can also send your donation by post to:
140 Coulston Road,
Lancaster
LA1 3AB.

Please enclose a donation form with your donation. If you're a UK tax-payer, your donation can be gift-aided, please remember to fill in the bottom section on the form.

Donations can be made in form of one off contributions or as a standing order on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis. Giving in a planned way by standing order is the best way to donate to 1Step2Step because it helps us budget and plan for the future. It's also cheaper, because there are no credit-card transaction fees, and more efficient in terms of time and tax! It also helps you; giving by standing order allows you to budget and manage your giving. And, because it all happens automatically, there's nothing to think about and no forms to sign or post each month.

All donations will be used in the work to support and develop the skills of the children with disabilities in the Thai orphanage. There may be occasions when donations are sought for specific resources or activities. Money raised will be specifically used, with surplus going to the general fund.

All your help is greatly received and will go to make a difference to the children we aim to serve. Thank you for your generosity.
